Drivers for Superior XP x64

If there are drivers you want included with the next release of Superior XP64, post a request here.

You can help by posting a direct link to a download of the driver. That should make our lives easier...

anyone have an msi ex625-227 laptop? I cant seem to get the subwoofer to work and i've tried everything. I installed realtek 2.27 drivers and it recognizes Legacy Audio Drivers, Realtek High Def Audio, but there is no sound comming out from the laptop. Is there some driver i'm missing?

Unknown said...

CORRECTION: sorry there is sound comming from the laptop but not from the subwoofer

Great distro! Thanks.
Please do not include the so called " codec packs" like k-lite. Let the system clear from extra codecs.

These codec packs are crappy and does not work properly.

Firehorsepower said...

hmm.. I strongly disagree with previous Anonymous commenter. The K-Lite Codec Pack Mega is the best that ever happened in codecs-world. It's installer is flawless in recovering mistakes, even. If it didn't work for you, you probably downloaded one of the spyware malware fake ones out there. The one and only place to get the true free K-Lite packs is: http://www.codecguide.com/features_mega.htm

I vote in favor of including the K-lite mega pack!

By the way, kickass XP releases!

Anonymous said...

Each user must decide which codec is best suited for him. The practice of installing "bunch of codecs" only cause problems.

Some codecs included in k-lite are inferior to well known codecs- i.e., CoreAAC is way better than AAC (Monogram), par example.

I hope you whould like to inklude VIA VT6421A driver for serial ATA and here is links to them http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/com/support/downloads.html or http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=2&CatID=2560&SubCatID=117 best regards

hey can you make a tinyxp version of 64?
eXperience makes tinyxp 0.9 rev, but it's xp not 64.

what's the total install size as I have a 8gb ssd. also are dlink wireless dwa-556 supported

Anonymous said...

thank you for the release, im not requesting for drivers i just want to thanks for making an effort for the customized version of the windows xp 64bit edition. thanks ^_^

YourSuperior said...

Please drop more of those great driver-links. You can be pretty sure we'll include them in the next release image.

Also please mention if you require special languages and/or keyboard types to be included or not. We lean towards a best-of-both-worlds merge of LiteSXP64 and SuperiorXP64, to have just one release with only a few languages/keyboards.

Thanks for all the links and comments, keep them coming!

Get rid of the Codec Back
Get rid of WMP

Use VLC
Plays everything out there.

And if people are having trouble with drivers. Try a program called Driver Magician.

All you need is an internet connection, so kinda sucks if thats the one that isnt working :P.

Futasec-e said...

@above,
I think Superiorx64's philosphy is to be the normal MS XP, minus all the junk.
Thus, I think it has to keep WMP.

The drivers are being installed because they can, afaik, not because some1 is having trouble.

VLC is a download away anwyays.

Anonymous said...

I prefer KMPlayer over VLC, so I'd rather not have any mediaplayer pre-installed (apart from WindowsMediaplayer, because I need its codecs for use in IE, Firefox, and other software I install afterwards. So I'm grateful for the selection as it is..)

Anonymous said...

hi, could you include a full complement of wireless cards? I have d-link wireless n card. video cards would also be nice a one-stop install.

Your Superior said...

We only include stuff for those who provide actual working links to x64 drivers.

Mikey said...

I have a logitech gaming mouse and when i try to install the driver from disk, or download, it gives me a BSOD everytime. Is there anyway to fix this?

Futasec-e said...

@Superior,

I have a pack of Laptop Drivers all x64s) shall I upload them to rapidshare so you include?
They OEM (asus/toshiba/ bla bla).?
or
your prefer individual links ?

Anonymous said...

Hey!

I was wondering if you could make sure Intel Matrix Storage Manager is updated to last version.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2101

I'm getting a couple of SSD's for raid 0 usage, and some research has revealed that older IMSM versions can cause slow read/write performance.

Thanks for all the good work!

Anonymous said...

I would appreciate simplified Chinese typing ability. Pretty sure I'm not the only one out there, either...

Anonymous said...

Also, on the 'lite version', do try to keep it as light as possible. Tinyxp is a great 32 bit example - the bare minimums, you know?

Your Superior said...

OK, once again:
New version is coming soon. We'll include the drivers that were posted with links. We'll always use the latest versions (provided that they work!).
We'll also include simplified Chinese typing and language modules.

Any more driver or keyboard type requests, please post them here. We'll try and slip them in last minute during test-phases.

Anonymous said...

glad to see a new x64 version coming soon!

* could u please allow/add by default :

- the hibernate feature?
- Volume Shadow Copy Service

* unadd this update to allow SandBoxie to run without BSOD :

- KB932596
- i think there is another updt more recent but i don't remember the number atm... wait few more days please i should able to find the update guilty

do u mind if i post a pack with drivers at a file sharing website? because i use a special driver software that search/extract all drivers used (so no exe only the files needed, this is the method i use with NLITE).

I have downloaded & installed all latest updates including Wacom Tablet, Microsoft & Philips Webcam, Samsung Flat Screen, SATA, Thomson Speedtouch Modem,...

Your Superior said...

We only include stuff for those who provide actual working links to x64 drivers.

It causes too much extra work if we make exceptions to that rule.

if you have driver-files (with inf files), simply post a link to them and we'll try and include.

Please don't post the obvious (flash/sw etc.) Everything that had been included in the current version will be in the next, in the most recent release available. (We have scripts checking for that.)

Best way to post links to drivers is to the brand-page where the downloadlink is to be found.
Direct links to .exe or .zip are silly, because we still need to check the source for its website to see if it is the latest stable version.

Hi, I just downloaded and installed the superior 64 OS and it works great. I have only one problem. I can't set any resolution in 16:9. I'm kinda rrokie in this and I don't know if it's a problem with the drivers of the motherboard, the monitor or just I don't know how to use the PC. If it's because of lack of a driver, I'd like that the new version has it. I can't post a link because I know almos noting about computers. Thanks 4 the OS. It's great

Futasec-e said...

@Your Superior,

I was actually tempted to resolve that for the n00b anon.

You are right, if you cant resolve that issue, you got no biz with x64 OS.

We will not add installers by the way, only actual drivers (where inf files are included).

And no, we will not release on usenet. You may post it there yourself if you want, but files have a way too short retention time for our taste. We want the first upload source to stay alive through seeds.

Watch demonoid, piratebay and h33t for release of it. Coming soon.

hi there,

* WXPFPP_EN as LABEL *

could you please make sure the LABEL will be "WXPFPP_EN" and not something else like sxp64, because that way, it runs smoothy & much more efficient to auto find the good driver on his own... I've been issues to find myself more rare files...

* Max Half-open Connections limit for TCP *

what "Max Half-open Connections limit for TCP" patched dll is used by default?

i'm asking because there is one causing BSOD on many systems with specific firewall like Comodo,... and it was the case on my system until i installed the good one!

BAD : Windows Half-open limit fix 4.1 from half-open.com

GOOD : Universal Tcpip.sys Patch2009.04.09 V1.2.0.12
from deepxw.blogspot.com/search/label/Universal%20Tcpip.sys%20Patch

many thanks!

Anonymous said...

i should add that changing the value of the "Max Half-open Connections limit for TCP" only in the registry key as been reported to been inefficient and that a patched dll (TCPIP.SYS) is needed!

WXPFPP_EN = Windows XP Professional Retail, so no, we will not name it that because it simply *is not* Windows XP Professional Retail.

We will however name it ARMPXVOL_EN which is the official CD-label for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition VLK/Corporate/Volume, which is the source used before all updating/patching.

Regarding TCPIP.SYS and the Max Halfopen Limit; This has always been patched already in SXP64 releases, as is stated in the description. No worries there.

Your Superior said...

Trying to get the torrent out later today. Could turn out to be tomorrow due to the great summery weather we're having here this week.

Thanks all for your driverlinks, highly appreciated, especially the packs.

If you still have last minute ideas, or drivers, you're welcome to still try. The driver-adding stage is one that we have to repeat often anyways, just before the release is ready to go.

Anonymous said...

Great for the labeling that is gonna be used because the previous signature SPX64 used was not a good choice, anyway we know who you're! hehe

Regarding TCPIP.SYS and the Max Halfopen Limit.

I know it was already patched in previous SXP64 releases but this is the reason I was asking, there are two known patch in the underground market and I wonder which one u are going to add by default?

There is one made by a russian guy and sadely causing BSOD with third parties tools like Comodo, Winamp plugins,... :

BAD : Windows Half-open limit fix 4.1 from half-open.com

and another one that i've tested lately and causing no BSOD!

GOOD : Universal Tcpip.sys Patch2009.04.09 V1.2.0.12
from deepxw.blogspot.com/search/label/Universal%20Tcpip.sys%20Patch

Note : I've tested all versions from the russian guy v2 until v4.1 get always TCPIP.SYS BSOD, I reported minidumps to him but get not support yet...

but lately I found the other version Universal Tcpip.sys Patch and no more BSOD, it's 100% stable. But the sad thing is that it's not longer developped, anyway it's 100% stable for XP X64.

Your Superior said...

Sorry, it's CRMPXVOL_EN (Windows XP Professional Corporate SP2), ARM is without SP2.

Regarding TCPIP.SYS, Dino Nuhagic has done the best job on that thus far. We've never had any trouble using Comodo software with our patched tcpip.sys in sxp64. I recommend checking elsewhere for the problem.

Futasec-e said...

@Your Superior,
please leave a note so I can create a new post, for the pending release soon as it is ready.
thanks

Anonymous said...

ARM = windows server 2003 (XP 64 is based on windows server 2003 core)
FPP = full package product (retail which require activation over the internet)
VOL = volume keys
ENG = english

CRMPXVOL_EN (= Corporate),

I read that Dino Nuhagic TCPIP.SYS
is set to allow by default 16,777,215 connections

OK, yet another silly issue to work out. nVidia forceware display drivers (WHQL) aren't ready to be integrated. Only pops up when actual nVidia cards are in the test-system. The new release passed our VM tests without a glitch. This is rather worrying, since nvidia is completely disregarding the fact that their inf files aren't written the way they should. Stupid gamers seem to be the cause.

This could take a while. Sorry for the delay.

And because it does take a few days, new versions/ideas will be included during the wait period.

Anonymous said...

no problem, looks like will be nice release.regarding video and audio drivers: i would not install them b/c they change them every week and some folks like to keep older drivers that work well, especialy those who use their systems for video editing or for graphic work.....just my thought

Your Superior said...

Certainly an option, but the idea where SXP64 first came from is to be able to install on many PC's at one time at a workplace where it is legally installed widely, it first had the needed drivers for the hardware used there... This is still the main drive behind it. ;-)

Issue seems to be solved by the way, we're doing an install test as I write this. More soon..

Your Superior said...

Just so you all know:

The problem with the nVidia drivers is harder than we thought. The amount of drivers included now also results in a Virtual Memory shortage warning during install. This we have never seen before and introduces all sorts of new problems to work out.

Release will really suffer a long delay now, since we are occupied otherwise the coming week.

Anonymous said...

cannot wait,by far the best os i ever used.Just hope it will be out soon

Anonymous said...

sad, just drop NVIDIA drivers then or keep only video drivers people sent u...

i don't think i will wait much more, because my current OS is slow & so i'm gonna do again my own XP x64 fully updated with nLite it works quite well and is pretty easy :)

thanks for ur effort, cu for a later release maybe!

Anonymous said...

I would love a version with just updates/hotfixes and drivers. No software or anything changed or removed from the original install.

WMP In movie maker preferences -> automatic codec download does not work.

Solution: You need the WMP111 XP64bit codecs. They are shipping with the media player.

From wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe you have to extract the file wmfdist11-64.exe. This file is the codec installation file. Unattended installation goes as usual:

../wmfdist11-64.exe /Q /O /N /Z

Have you considered using CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/) instead of K-Lite? If you haven't, please look into it.

CCCP just comes with the meat and potatoes and doesn't come with anything extra. It also installs MPC-HC or Zoom Player or both (Both very small footprint players).

If it was linux then i'd suggest Mplayer, or VLC, but since it's Windows, MPC+CCCP is simply the best.

Also is there an update on the "LiteSXP64" and when it might be released?

is there any drivers for external Hard Drives like MAxtor or printers and scanners that are obsolete for this OS?

Maxtor doesnt seem to have them at their end. Thus, cant get the external drives, or in my case, any usb devises to work when plugged in this OS. But works fine with the 32bit version. The compatibility issues sucks. I just dont wanna keep burning discs just to share/transfer files.

hope everything is alright at the superior team... wonder why there have been no Superior XP x64 release for aug/september and why no comment lately in this blog...

please tell us if this project is down

Your Superior said...

Sorry for the absence. SXP64 is NOT down. Just waiting for a couple of things to be finished. Tomorrow we have a bunch of new updates to replace older ones and fix loads of tiny bugs this Patch Tuesday, there's a new Direct-X to replace the older one(s) and we have new hardware to test new drivers on.

We had to kill the last release that was planned, because many of the added drivers turned our obligated work-related release to dust; We didn't have time to finish both ends of the project satisfactory, if you know what I mean.
Remember; This 'project' is half work-related (for legal workstations) and half catering to the wishes of you, the internet audience and to ourselves. We simply don't always have time to 'release' the in-betweens, because we have a strong dislike for descriptionless torrents.

Right now I'm personally making sure there will be a release for the internet audience as well with the next update. That's a promise. I'm guessing an october release-date would not be hard to put down as a deadline.

Anonymous said...

thanks to clarify the situation

will it be a late september / early october release or more mid october? ^^

Your Superior said...

That depends on the work of several people secretly involved via my cousin. The predictions are somewhat visible in
http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6400 (please don't post sxp64 related questions there, they will be ignored..)

Add an extra 2 weeks to the new Update-pack release-date, and that will probably be the date to look out for.

We do have the nvidia driver problem(s) solved now, and will be adding ATI drivers as well this time. At the very least ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3400, HD 3650 series and FireGL V5700.

We're considering NOT adding IE8, and only adding IE6 and Firefox, but we're not sure about that yet.

i dont understand why it takes so long to add updates because with nlite it's easy & quick but i guess u do more advanced tweakings...

no IE8 it's ok... but please use by default IE7 (not IE6 !) i made previously a custom XP X64 with IE7 integrated and it works very well, IE6 is outdated and does not work with some newer websites :-(

same for WMP... don't use an older version... WM7 codecs are good...

i hope also all drivers (soundcard, game pad, wacom tablet,...) posted by users will be integrated as it was offered initially...

correction : WM11 codecs ;)

Hi there Superior is there going to be a Lite version released?

Your Superior said...

Regarding the addition of (third party) drivers:

As mentioned before, there is a maximum we can add (simply a limitation in the OS we can't bypass or hack around), so we'll try and pick the most common ones out of those posted here, plus of course the ones we do need to have in there ourselves.

We will probably not release a lite version this time, but that's not decided on yet. Releasing a lite-version is easy as soon as the non-lite version is done.
And yes, we ARE still working on it.. ;-)

almost there: http://paste2.org/p/489710

why not disabling the old windows messenger?

why do you disable Windows Update ? it's working well and i like to be noticed as soon a hotfix is released...

why adding by default Total Commander ? not all people like it and there are others alternatives...

do you use the Universal Tcpip.sys Patch or another one?

Anonymous said...

You sound like someone who has never used/installed SXP64.
Since when has the messenger service even been available in SXP64? It isn't even in there!
Windows Update is a PITA if you know what you're doing, and besides, it has always been optionally available during install, afaik. RTFM!

Please no, KEEP Totalcommander! It reason for me to like this OS! I want it there from start, also leave klite pack and firefox plus plugins. saves me much time and is perfect software for everybody!!!

Hello, I have an Acer 5920-6080 notebook, and I'm not sure if there are XP x64 drivers available. Do you think I'll have problems with XP x86 drivers with your OS?

Your Superior said...

Acer Aspire 5920 specs are fully compatible with XP x64 Edition.
As far as I know:
• Mobile Intel PM965/GM965 Express Chipset
• Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
• Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
• Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset with integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel Graphic Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100
or Nvidia 8600M.
And I think it has an Intel HD Audio chipset.

If the device has Intel chips, it is supported with XP x64 drivers.

I can't wait for the new release! You guys are awesome and definitely stand by your quality work.

I greatly appreciate your generosity to share your distros with us.

A lot of posters here don't seem to understand that this is your distro, the way you guys use it and prefer it, not the posters. So whatever you guys do with it, I'm happy with it, and I trust and respect your work!

I am using it also for overclocking and also here it is performing great. I am really looking forward to your future releases. Do you already have an idea when your next release will be made available?

I would add folder size.
http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/
a free small tool that shows the column of folder size in explorer.
It is extremely useful! It's to have an overwiew of the hardisk/s and where is the space used.

Eventually also win mate
a tool to speed up windows which is doing miracles on my old dual core 1,8 ghz. Also for check security, install security patches of later servicepacks without getting the bad things; clean the registry; optimize startup; services; enable right click.... here is it: http://www.t55.net/
works great!

Then, I know it is not a technical support forum, but this version is not working perfectly on my pc, the start of the pc is slow, it shows always a page where it loads drivers and so on. By entering windows there is a lot of harddisk work. The new intel quadcore 3.4ghz is slower than dual core 1.8.
If anybody has suggestion he is welcome to mail me jonnyjonny@mail.com. (don't send and want spam)

Ps nice picture by CarloBonini tpb, may I ask were is it taken? Somewhere in middle italy?

Cheers!
Jonny

ps one last thing, It would be nice to have it for usb install, instead of the iso for dvd.

psII
as google chrome is faster than firefox it would be nice to add it.

I have taken the liberty to create an update of the Superior june2009 edition. I took out much of the preinstalled software and included the NET framework packages and updates that can be installed if desired. I did include the Superior registry. Its been posted on usenet as "Windows XP professional x64 ENU fully updated" (XPx64+NET.iso)
