Q n A :Is Superior XP 64 down ?

An anonymous user asked:
hope everything is alright at the superior team... wonder why there have been no Superior XP x64 release for aug/september

And Superior 64 replies :

Sorry for the absence. SXP64 is NOT down. Just waiting for a couple of things to be finished. Tomorrow we have a bunch of new updates to replace older ones and fix loads of tiny bugs this Patch Tuesday, there's a new Direct-X to replace the older one(s) and we have new hardware to test new drivers on.

We had to kill the last release that was planned, because many of the added drivers turned our obligated work-related release to dust; We didn't have time to finish both ends of the project satisfactory, if you know what I mean.Remember; This 'project' is half work-related (for legal workstations) and half catering to the wishes of you, the internet audience and to ourselves. We simply don't always have time to 'release' the in-betweens, because we have a strong dislike for descriptionless torrents.

Right now I'm personally making sure there will be a release for the internet audience as well with the next update. That's a promise. I'm guessing an october release-date would not be hard to put down as a deadline.

------------------------------
Keep fingers crossed then guys.....October comes soon enough :)

You may leave best-wishes for the team here...for the winter I mean :)

What is the last version of Superior XP X64?
Is this "revival 8" the last one or is that a fake? (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5096755/superior_windows_xp_x64_edition_revival_8)

If the "8" is a fake, is then "revival 6" the last one?

Your Superior said...

We will not even usze the word "revival" for the next release. So yes, that's a fake.
Don't even try it.

Just a big 'thanks' for all your hard work, have been using Superior XP for months now, really stable does everything I need with no fuss and bother.
Have a great winter :)

I'm really enjoying this version of XP 64. But can someone please tell me how to enable hibernation, as suggested in the description?

Thanks!

Hey... decided on any date for the next release?
I haven't used it yet... but am anxious about installing the newer update after reading the reviews :)

Just want to leave my own huge THANKS for SXP64! I've used rev 6 for several months now, and it's fast, rock solid, and very light on resources. Never had the slightest problem with it.

Bottom line, It Just Works!

Love Superior XP x64, and have been using it on 2 machines for a few months.

I'm about to build a new machine from scratch, and will absolutely use Superior as my OS. So I'm curious if that "October" date is getting any nearer?

In other words, I'm very happy with the current version, but if the next one is coming out in only a few days, I'd prefer to build with that one from the start.

On the other hand, I'm eager to get this machine up and running, and if it's going to be another few weeks before the next release, I'll go ahead and stick with the current version.

I know everyone is eager to see the next version of this great distro! :)

lets get this release on the roll :D!

Anonymous said...

Yes, SXP 64 is a great os,the best i've ever used. Cant wait til next released x_x When it will be released? Its already october 17 :P ^^ Anyway thx for the work.

Anonymous said...

Yeah id like to reformat my computer, and the new release would be ideal :D

Anonymous said...

Edging near the end of October, any idea when this is coming out?

Your Superior said...

Working on it. Things will be simplified regarding some problematic new drivers (probably by simply leaving them out). The crucial ones are those for storage, which need to be there during installation.

Rest is looking real good. October should be manageable, I'm guessing somewhere at the end of next week we'll release it. Hope TPB will still be up.. All updates are integrated, new improved versions, some wishes and hints are applied.

Hey guys,

this may sound silly, but is there something similar to Superior x64 available in 32 bit ? Like a "normal" Windows XP ;-)...

Because the x64 release rocks...

Anonymous said...

Anxiously awaiting the new release... I'm building a new PC later this week. I've the June version on stand-by but a new edition would really be great.

Your Superior said...

OK guys and gals, sorry to have to announce yet another broken promise. Mostly due to family-related issues there's not enough time today, tomorrow and saturday to get it all tested in time (we have to employ the image in a serious corporate environment as well, which is the reason we need more time than most other custom Windows releases out there..). We now think wednesday nov. 4th the torrent should be in the available.

Meanwhile, for those looking for 32 bit XP releases, I can personally recommend these:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4999066/
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5133836/
These two are easily stripped down post-install if you like to have it thinner than they come.

Anonymous said...

What matters is that it works fine when it's released, so I'll be patiently(sort of lol) wait next week :)
KUTGW! thumbup :)

Anonymous said...

I think everybody can fully understand your issues, the family is the first, we will wait for the release. I hope we will get some new themes with next version. New bleach anime and SXP 64 on wednesday!! Its will be a great week :D
KUTGW! Your Superior 4 president! ^^

What Direct X will this version have.

I like how you're still continuing to build Superior XP 64 more and more.

I recall having you included an MP3 on the last release. What if you made that play during installation, just like what Windows XP Home Edition did?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNXzMBA9VU4

It can be a real stress reducer as we're reinstalling from each and every release you throw out.

Wacht met smart! :D

Please Superior, can you tell me if in the new version that will be released this week, we can be able to install a clean version, formatting the old OS, direct from a Pen Drive through USB Port? Sorry about my poor English! Thanks for your attention!

Anonymous said...

Dapxin said...

Anonymous said...

im drooling where is this :D

Anonymous said...

deadline,sigh.

Anonymous said...

when will it be released?

Anonymous said...

Please give us some information. Its November 7 and nothing happened since 29, October. "family-related issues" or technical problems? Why its late?

Anonymous said...

Chill out guys, give our Superior a break.

I'm very confident that it'll be done when it's a complete and stable piece of work.

Don't wine about the release date, things happen, and at least he was kind enough to try and attempt to release it by a certain date.

Take your time Superior, we know you guys stand behind your quality work!

Anonymous said...

And to add to my last post, I appreciate them(SXP64 team) for taking their time to make this, rather than to just press out some half@$$ed unstable piece of work. Heck, even big software companies don't take the time and detail to ensure such a quality stable piece of work.

So again, THANKS SXP64 team!!! Take your time, take all the time you need to ensure that your next release of SXP64 is what it will be...the best!

Anonymous said...

While being completely agree with previous post, I would dare to humbly ask the Superior team to provide us even with a little info on approximate release date... Would it be next week, or next month, or maybe... :)))

I am asking that because it's so hard to wait without seeing the "light in the end of the tunnel"...
Yes, Superior XP is the light of hope in microsoft tunnel of darkness.... :)))

Anonymous said...

I've been shitting myself everyday since wednesday. I want this soo bad.

Anonymous said...

11 November 2009. 168 Hours after The Promise. Still 0 information about the project. Ok, Superior need more time. That's agreed. But without hope we have nothing.

Dapxin said...

@Anon,

That's enough!

1. You are not the only one waiting.

2. Whatever it was causing the delay with the release, no amount of posting will take it away.

3. You must learn to be eternally patient with the 'goodwill' of others - even when it seems to drive you insane.

The longer you wait, the sooner it comes.

Anonymous said...

agreed, but itd be nice to hear from him. I check this blog 3 times a day!

Anonymous said...

LoL, me too, also search for it on TPB...

but no news is good news?

Anonymous said...

true.

Nec said...

Same here. Checking the site is the first when i start the firefox, with every new comment i hope, that Superior commented the release date.
New sxp should be perfect to reformat my computer.

Scorched_ice said...

Is there a way i can open text files using notepad and not PSpad...i agree PSpad is much better but i like the simplicity of notepad and i need it for certain purposes. Also, PS pad refuses to let me edit the boot.ini file...

Please tell me how to revert back to notepad without uninstalling PSpad.

Thanks and Regards
- A fan.

sup with this running gag?

Nec said...

Okay, my os is already dead, can't wait more. Time to install win7, i hope its almost good as SXP ^^

Anonymous said...

im surprised Superior hasnt even left a comment yet, any body have contact with him. I did when demonoid was up lol.

Korameri said...

Are you implying that the new release is up on demonoid?

Demonoid is down altogether for now. And I haven't talked to Superior. However I have been following the progress closely. Seems like most hurdles have been overcome. If I was to guess, they are just testing it for stability, or waiting for few new release updates to add to it before releasing(for example I believe new updates on XP64 are supposed to be released by the end of this month from MS). So who knows? Personally I'm fine with that. I can wait, current SXP64 is sufficient for time being, =]

Anonymous said...

why is that so much difficult than making an updated XP with nLite?

if Demonoid is down and the TPB don't accept anymore Win OS, post it to newsgroup or at any filehosting service available...

Anonymous said...

just add FILE HASH so we all know the release is safe & certified!

Korameri said...

The reason why it's so difficult to make an updated XP with nlite is because when you have modified it as much as they have, and changed that many registries, it becomes rather difficult to get everything working stable.

You should try it yourself some time. When you start ripping things out and adding things in and you'll notice how unstable the OS becomes... it's not as easy as you would think(especially the more you take in/add out).

The Superior team does not simply just "update" latest drivers and release it. They seek to improve it more, and on top of that some of the latest drivers occasionally have issues themselves(take nvidia for example).

On top of this, the Superior team has a high emphasis on stability, as they've stated that they use this OS themselves and for their working environment, so there is a lot of testing done to make sure it's not going to crash on them.

So be patient and know that it's going to be a solid piece of work from people with some serious IT talent. If all you want is an updated SXP64, then you can update xp updates yourself and call it a day.

Anonymous said...

yes basically i'm looking for a premade updated xp x64... with the basic drivers (SATA/RAID) (and maybe with some advanced config...

most others drivers anyway are too often updated (realtek, nvidia,...) so i think it's useless...

Korameri said...

If all you wanted was updated drivers from 3rd parties on you XP64, then you can do that easily yourself.

The "advanced config" part is what takes a long time, again, especially if you want it to be rock solid stable. Again, getting registry hacks right can take a while.

As for other driver updates, they are definitely long over due, it's been almost half a year since the last release!

Anonymous said...

end of the month, again, will it be for this weekend? (:

Anonymous said...

he's probably not gonna release it. Before he estimated 3 days to test. It's been 4 weeks.

Anonymous said...

i think that they set too high a standard... K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid!)

is there any Superior XP x64 average alternative?

Anonymous said...

maybe pinned down by Microsoft? hope not, I've been waiting for a long time.

Korameri said...

Again, if all you want is the latest update/ the "average" sxp64, then what are you waiting for? You already have it, and can do it yourself. The current SXP64 is already well tweaked above the normal one. As for updates you can either slipstream or update yourself. You have no reason to wait for the new one if that's your case/desire.

I think it could take a while, but I'm fine with that, 5eraph just updated a new pack, so that means more testing, in addition Microsoft recently released updates. Since it's been this long, I would imagine they mind as well add them in since they were just released not too long ago, after what was just released. I don't think there will be too much in the near future, hence this could be it, once tested/debugged, etc.

In fact, I hope they do have the new packs, so I have no problem if they take their time, =] Otherwise it would be obsolete by release date.

Waiting..... You guys rock! And XP rocks when it has been superiorized!

Btw. the codecs and media player is not needed. Actually codecs muffles up certain games, visuals freezes when played, so if people have problems with it, uninstall the codecs- after that games work great!

VLC is best player around and does not need any codecs. :)
